Colorado Girls High School Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (12-20-2017)

Fossil Ridge (5A), Rampart (4A), and Longmont(3A) lead the rankings to open the 2017-18 season with Fairview (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and Pueblo County (3A) following closely behind.  While the top 2 in 5A have distanced themselves from the field by a wide margin and are 16 points apart, 4A and 3A are very close, with the gap in each case being 9 and 1 point respectively and the rest of the field is much closer the them as well.

The season also looks to be very competitive between individual event leaders with only a few cases of there being one person who is far ahead of everyone else.  Exceptions to this look to be Fran Cable in 5A 1M Diving (40+ point margin), Colleen Gillilan in 5A 100 Fly (nearly 2 seconds), Cat Wright in the 4A 200 Free (nearly 3 seconds), Ella Kirschke in the 4A 200 IM (4+ seconds), Lillianna Brooks in the 3A 200 Free (4.5 seconds), and Sydney Silver in the 3A 100 Back (2.5 seconds).

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (5-14-2017)

Teams didn't move much, but the times definitely got faster.  In several cases, the top times are now faster that the All-American Automatic cuts (that's FAST)!  The league meet approach by some teams was to allow the kids that were close to making a state time, to be the focus of the meet, while others used the opportunity to re-assert their position in the league and within the state.  Some teams moved up significantly (Evergreen, Broomfield), while most others held steady.

In both cases, 1st and 2nd look solid (Fossil Ridge/Cherry Creek - 5A, Cheyenne Mountain/Thompson Valley - 4A), but second place could swing differently on a DQ or bad day for a high-end athlete.

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (5-9-2017)

Little to no changes this week as most teams are focused on their B/C/JV athletes and their championship meets this past week.  A few dual meets were all that happened and not much changed because of it.

There will be two rankings next week.  One will be published Sunday morning after all league meet results are posted to MaxPreps.com, and another will be published Tuesday or Wednesday that will be derived straight from the psych sheets, once they have been published.

Next Rankings Published - Sunday, May 14th (Hopefully before Noon) & Tue or Wed May 16/17 (psych sheets).

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (5-3-2017)

Not as much change in the team standings this week, though it appears that teams are now plugging their faster athletes into other events since you will see more of the same athletes showing up in multiple events.  Realize that the rankings only consider the 2 highest individual event rankings in the team points.  Also, if an athlete is ranked the highest in more than 2 events (i.e. Daniel Carr everywhere...), the two events chosen are RANDOM.

No considerations are made for relays and who is on them.  This means that teams that may not be deep enough to cover all 3 relays well, could be hiding that fact in the rankings since the best times are taken throughout the entire season.

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (4-26-2017)

This week's rankings definitely felt the impact of two big invitationals and a few major dual meets.  No changes at the top with 5A led by Fossil Ridge and 4A by Cheyenne Mountain, but several schools were moving up...

Top Movers in 4A (New Rank):
Mullen +7 (10th)
Valor Christian +5 (3rd)
Montrose / Estes Park +3 (11th / 15th)

Top Movers in 5A (New Rank):
Ponderosa +11 (8th)
Boulder +5 (10th)
Fairview +3 (4th)

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (4-19-2017)

The top teams have solidified their positions atop the rankings, while schools like Thompson Valley and Golden made big advances into the top 5 in 4A, and Fairview was the big mover in 5A.  Several bigger invitationals are set for the weekend and may cause another significant shake-up in the top 20!  Stay tuned!

** UPDATE 4/20 ** State qual times for 5A on previous reports have been incorrect.  This has now been fixed and should be right on this report and going forward.

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (4-12-2017)

Welcome back Cheyenne Mountain...  CM has vaulted back onto the top of the 4A rankings, though not by a massive amount of points (40) ahead of Ponderosa.  Fossil Ridge is still firmly clutching the top spot in 5A with an 82 point lead on now 2nd ranked Cherry Creek, who is still glowing after topping 3rd ranked Regis in a dual meet yesterday (Apr 11) by a score of 166-149.

Colorado Boys Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (4-5-2017)

This year's first rankings brings us a new 4A leader in Ponderosa - 69 points ahead of Cheyenne Mountain, and a very strong returning champ in Fossil Ridge, with a 141 point lead over Regis.  Admittedly, some of the returning athletes from club sectional meets have yet to put their stamp on their signature events, but there are definitely some newcomers making bold early statements.

Colorado Girls Swimming and Diving Psych Sheet Rankings Posted Here - (2-6-2017)

Psych Sheets have been posted and can be found here: http://chsaanow.com/2017-02-06/3a-4a-5a-girls-swimming-diving-state-meet-psych-sheets-2017

The rankings from these psych sheets have been posted and the following points can be made - If you get a relay into the top 8 in 5A, you stand a good chance of finishing in the top 10 at the end, while it may take two relays in 4A and definitely two in 3A to get there.  It looks like Fossil Ridge, Cheyenne Mountain, and Aspen will be very hard to beat, barring any major DQ's.

Good luck to everyone at the big meet!!

Colorado Girls Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (2-5-2017)

Fossil Ridge (5A) and Cheyenne Mountain (4A) look to have solidified their lead in the final rankings before the psyche sheets come out later this week.  Aspen (3A) appears to have come out of the booth - cape and all, and leaped over everyone to grab the top of the 3A rankings from a great league championship meet.  This shouldn't be too surprising to those who recall last year when a similar eye-popping leap was also executed by Aspen.

The real fight looks to be for second in 5A with Fairview and Arapahoe, and 4A between Valor Christian and Heritage.  In 3A, while Aspen has the top spot, it's not by much, and the next 3 teams could jump to the top or lose out with a key DQ.

Colorado Girls Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (1-25-2017)

Fossil Ridge (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and Pueblo County(3A) lead the rankings this week, with Pueblo County benefiting on other smaller teams climbing up the rankings to create a little space between them and St. Mary's Academy for the top billing.  Fossil Ridge and Cheyenne Mountain continue their stranglehold atop the 5A and 4A listings.

There will be no rankings this coming week (Week of Jan 30th) since most teams will be gearing their JV teams up for their season-ending meets.  The next rankings could hold a true barometer on what to expect at state with league championships over the weekend of Feb 3rd and 4th!  You can expect one of two scenarios to play out... Bigger teams allowing those that are close to qualify for state to have top billing in those events, while others may be loading up to win or place as high as possible in their respective league championships.

Colorado Girls Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (1-17-2017)

Fossil Ridge (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and St. Mary's Academy(3A) still lead the rankings this week, though in 4A, Heritage made a big leap into second and in 3A, Pueblo County also jumped into second and closed the gap between them and St. Mary's Academy to a single point!  In 5A, the top 3 look solid but beyond that, it's going to come down to who's hot in prelims.

Colorado Girls Swimming and Diving Rankings Posted Here - (1-11-2017)

Fossil Ridge (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and St. Mary's Academy(3A) lead the rankings this week with major meets this coming weekend and next.  The Boulder County Invitational and the Mountain Vista Invitational drew big crowds of athletes who posted some good mid-season times this past week.  St. Mary's Academy was able to vault into the 3A lead position with a strong 4th place team showing at the MV Invite.  So much so, that what was a close three-way race in 3A is now a 55 point gap between SMA and 2nd & 3rd place contenders Pueblo County and D'Evelyn.

In 4A, Cheyenne Mountain is continuing their dominance with a 60+ point lead over Valor Christian with Heritage and Evergreen not far behind.  Look to see even that distance possibly grow with their performance in the Hornet Invitational (@Pueblo County) this weekend... A meet that historically been very fast for the Southern Colorado  area teams who attend.

In 5A, Fairview had a strong enough performance and depth in their 97 member roster this weekend to eat up some of the margin between them and leader Fossil Ridge to close the gap to 15 points.  Arapahoe looks solid in 3rd position with a group of 4 (Lewis-Palmer, Regis, Rock Canyon, Rocky Mountain) within 20 points of each other.

Many teams will be competing in the Mountain Range meet at VMAC this weekend looking to break into the top 20 as individuals and hoping to help their team climb closer to the top spot in the team rankings!  Good Luck!!
