8 days and counting!!!  This weekend will be big for many teams as the league championships take pace statewide.  Still, it only comes a close second to the big weekend of the state meet next weekend!  I will publish two rankings - One on Sunday that will have the top times including the league meets (assuming the league reps get the results submitted).  This may help a lot of coaches determine who they want to enter in what...  Another one on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending upon when the psych sheets come out that will serve as the meet "on paper".

Things in 4A are getting much closer within the top 5.  47 points span the 5 places, with only 5 points separating Air Academy and Discovery Canyon.  In 5A, the top place Regis team still looks solid with a 100+ point lead, but the second, third, and fourth places are within 5 points of each other!  Even the 5th through 8th places are looking very close as well.

Thompson Valley and D'Evelyn both had strong showings in 4A at the Jeffco Invitational, while Discovery Canyon did well at the Hornet Invite.  In 5A, Most of the teams held places, though Regis did give back 25 points to the field, but still hold a 129 point advantage over Cherry Creek.

4A is shaping up to be a fight for the top spot between Colorado Springs teams Air Academy and Discovery Canyon, while Regis appears to have a very solid hold of the top spot in 5A.  Top 10 look to be competitive in both divisions.

The reading of "the rules"...

So it begins - again...

Just a few points of clarity before we get this underway

There are several goals that the compilation of the rankings and this site are meant to achieve:

• To provide a home for the Colorado High School Swimming and Diving top-20 rankings that are derived while the boys or girls are in season. Girls rankings will be posted between late December and early February, while the Boys rankings will be posted between late March and mid May.
• To generate more excitement during the 12 week high school season ultimately culminating at the 4A and 5A Colorado State Championship Swimming and Diving meets.
• To provide recognition for the kids that have all worked very hard to achieve this level of success in the sport without having to be a state champion.
• To provide a one-stop-shop for media outlets to get easy to find, publishable information that hopefully leads to more kids and programs getting more attention that is so richly deserved!
• To provide motivation in knowing where you or your team stands relative to others.
• To provide a possible outcome of the 4A or 5A State Championship Meet if it were to be that day.  Of course, this is only a projection and you still have to perform the meet.  It is not a guarantee of what will happen.  Only one of many possibilities.

• No one is being paid for this information or process.
• The information is pulled directly from MaxPreps.com a few hours before posting, so if there is a data issue, it is likely because there is something wrong there.  Please check on that source first, before approaching this site. While it's not live data, it will be known when the sample was taken.
• The intent of the team rankings is to provide a state meet simulation.  This takes the two highest ranked individual events for an athlete and assigns points to them based upon their projected place.  Adjustments have been made that account for athletes ranked in more than 2 individual events so that the scores are not skewed from one athlete/school.
• The team rankings are not geared for dual meet predictions.

These rankings were derived from the 4A and 5A Psych Sheets.  The event rankings are actually the psych sheets themselves with the point totals derived from them.  For diving, if the diver was entered in the meet, they were ranked based upon their best 11-dive list in MaxPreps.  The entire psych sheets were in the report because all of the athletes deserve recognition for making it to their respective state meet!!

A very calm week in the rankings.  A few individual event moves, but overall much the same as last week.  Broomfield made a move from 9th to 8th in 4A, while Lewis-Palmer showed up in 16th this week.  Many teams are heading towards JV/B League Championship meets late this week.

Evergreen, Ralston Valley, Silver Creek, and St. Mary's Academy moved up and Kent Denver broke into this week's 4A rankings, with Evergreen jumping to the top spot after a strong meet at the Jeffco Invitational.  Ralston Valley, Chaparral, and Boulder were 5A movers with Arvada West breaking in.
