Fossil Ridge (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and Pueblo County(3A) lead the rankings this week, with Pueblo County benefiting on other smaller teams climbing up the rankings to create a little space between them and St. Mary's Academy for the top billing. Fossil Ridge and Cheyenne Mountain continue their stranglehold atop the 5A and 4A listings.
There will be no rankings this coming week (Week of Jan 30th) since most teams will be gearing their JV teams up for their season-ending meets. The next rankings could hold a true barometer on what to expect at state with league championships over the weekend of Feb 3rd and 4th! You can expect one of two scenarios to play out... Bigger teams allowing those that are close to qualify for state to have top billing in those events, while others may be loading up to win or place as high as possible in their respective league championships.

Fossil Ridge (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and St. Mary's Academy(3A) still lead the rankings this week, though in 4A, Heritage made a big leap into second and in 3A, Pueblo County also jumped into second and closed the gap between them and St. Mary's Academy to a single point! In 5A, the top 3 look solid but beyond that, it's going to come down to who's hot in prelims.

Fossil Ridge (5A), Cheyenne Mountain (4A), and St. Mary's Academy(3A) lead the rankings this week with major meets this coming weekend and next. The Boulder County Invitational and the Mountain Vista Invitational drew big crowds of athletes who posted some good mid-season times this past week. St. Mary's Academy was able to vault into the 3A lead position with a strong 4th place team showing at the MV Invite. So much so, that what was a close three-way race in 3A is now a 55 point gap between SMA and 2nd & 3rd place contenders Pueblo County and D'Evelyn.
In 4A, Cheyenne Mountain is continuing their dominance with a 60+ point lead over Valor Christian with Heritage and Evergreen not far behind. Look to see even that distance possibly grow with their performance in the Hornet Invitational (@Pueblo County) this weekend... A meet that historically been very fast for the Southern Colorado area teams who attend.
In 5A, Fairview had a strong enough performance and depth in their 97 member roster this weekend to eat up some of the margin between them and leader Fossil Ridge to close the gap to 15 points. Arapahoe looks solid in 3rd position with a group of 4 (Lewis-Palmer, Regis, Rock Canyon, Rocky Mountain) within 20 points of each other.
Many teams will be competing in the Mountain Range meet at VMAC this weekend looking to break into the top 20 as individuals and hoping to help their team climb closer to the top spot in the team rankings! Good Luck!!
